Candy corn and Halloween go hand-in-hand, it's not the official sweet treat of this fall holiday, but it might as well be since we eat nearly 35 million pounds of it a year - most in October.

October 30th, the day before kids go trick-or-treating has been dedicated as National Candy Corn Day, a sugary salute to this tri-colored treat.

Since most of us like to eat this seasonal snack created by the Wunderlee Candy Company more that 100 years, why not consider wearing it as a Halloween costume. While you could plaster yourself in real candy corn (9 billion kernels churn out of factories each year), you might attract ants, bees or the unwanted tongues of bystanders. Instead, suit up in a costume or add costume accessories specifically devoted to this corn-inspired confection.

Dress head-to-toe in this beloved candy costume, we especially are salivating over the mod 60s go-go version that features an A-line dress layered in the three requisite colors - yellow, orange and white. A matching cone shaped hat and pair of white patent boots will keep you queen on the candy bowl. We've seen all sorts of other delicious ways to deck out your candy corn costume including a candy corn purse, candy earrings and even a metallic wig sparkling in yellow, orange and white. There are also witch-style candy kernal outfits that tie together the sweetness of this treat with a sassy-styled witch costume.

Dressing up in a candy women's costume will definitely get you noticed trick-or-treating. Don't worry about feasting on the bounty of these candy corns hauled home in your bucket; they actually have fewer calories than raisins with only 3.6 calories per kernel. This sugary snack has become so popular that it now comes in gourmet flavors and in other colors for different times of the year - such as brown, red and white "Reindeer Corn."
